Chip n Chesney Hawkes Tour Cancelled

Well this is a first.

The planned tour of Chip and Chesney Hawkes "Father and son in concert" has been completely cancelled.

Chip's official website just claims 'unforseen circumstances'.

The 'unforseen circumstances' we have heard were down to utterly appalling ticket sales across the country.

I have heard that one theatre had literally only sold a couple of tickets and many others only just managed double figures.

Comebacks of 80's pop stars seems to be the in-thing at the moment but I guess it shows not every act is always going to be popular eternally.

I also suspect that it wouldn't look too good having Chesney blasting out his 80's hit "I am the one and only" when he is almost the only person in the auditorium.

Perhaps the mix of 60's and 80's musical talent didn't appeal to many?

Anyway, whatever the reason for the cancellation, time moves on and Hawkes senior, Chip will continue to be very active in theatres around the UK this year. The ex-Tremeloes singer continues to be popular appearing with The Pacemakers, The Tremeloes, Brian Poole and others in the coming months. The massive 60's Gold Tour then comes in the second half of the year.

At least this post ends with a highlight that it isn't all doom and gloom for the Hawkes family. Print This Entry
